In 1993, Hong Kong bid a final farewell to Kowloon Walled City - a place that once harbored the highest population density on Earth. This sprawling urban area accommodated a staggering fifty thousand inhabitants within the confines of a single city block. A complex network of rudimentary transportation systems effectively connected the maze-like pathways and structures of the City.
Kowloon Walled City gained notoriety as an anarchic and overcrowded ghetto, an amalgamation of decaying concrete structures interspersed with grungy neon signs, all resonating alongside the thunderous noise of low-flying jet engines. Historically, many accounts have shed light on the harsh realities within – from gangs replacing law enforcement to residents enduring cramped apartments devoid of sunlight, where they shared their living spaces with rats and cockroaches.
